Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 30, 2026
Guanaco Labs (“Guanaco Labs,” “we,” “us”) is a biotechnology engineering company based in Seattle, Washington. We are committed to protecting your personal privacy and the integrity of your scientific data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our websites, our software (including Vicuna), and related services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information that identifies you personally, as well as scientific data necessary to provide our services.
- Account Information: When you register for an account, we collect standard details such as your name, email address, organization name, and billing information.
- Scientific & Service Data: To run predictions and virtual screens, we process the antigen identities, antigen sequences, and nanobody designs you submit to Vicuna.
- Generated Results: We generate results from your submissions — including predicted binding scores, candidate rankings, and developability profiles.
- Technical Data: We automatically collect basic log data (e.g., IP addresses, browser types) necessary for website functionality and security.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following operational and developmental purposes:
- Providing Services: To run Vicuna’s binding predictions, virtual screens, and design tools, and to deliver the resulting data to you.
- Improving Our Software: We use submitted data and generated results to test, validate, and improve Vicuna, our proprietary nanobody design and prediction software, and our related models.
- Account Management: To process transactions, maintain your account, and provide customer support.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with essential third-party service providers who assist us in operating our business:
- Hosting Services: Your data is stored and processed securely using Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Payment Processors: Transactions are handled by a secure, third-party payment processor. We do not store your full financial information on our servers.
- Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
We handle the retention and deletion of personal account data and scientific data differently to ensure your privacy while maintaining our research capabilities:
- Personal Account Data: You may delete your account and associated personal data at any time via your account settings. We retain this personal data for a short-term buffer of 24 hours following your request to allow for account recovery, after which it is permanently deleted.
- Scientific Data: Unless you explicitly request otherwise, deleting your account does not automatically delete the antigen identities, sequences, or designs you have submitted, nor does it remove them from the datasets used to improve Vicuna.
- Special Deletion Requests: If you require the deletion of your submitted scientific data, you must submit a special request by emailing help@guanacolabs.com.
5. International Data Transfers
Guanaco Labs is located in the United States. If you are accessing our services from Europe, Latin America, or other regions with laws governing data collection and use that may differ from U.S. law, please note that you are transferring your data to the United States. By using our services, you consent to this transfer and processing via AWS in the United States, safeguarded by standard contractual clauses or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.
6. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR & Global Standards)
Depending on your location (such as the European Economic Area), you may have specific rights regarding your personal data:
- Access & Portability: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: You can correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure: You can request the deletion of your data (subject to the scientific data provisions outlined in Section 4).
